Qualifications
Essential: Bachelor of Engineering in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.
Desired: Post Graduation in Construction / Business Management is preferred.
Experience:
- 30+ years of experience primarily in handling large Industrial projects related to Construction of Refinery, Petrochemical & Power Plant with 10+ years as Construction Head of large projects.
- Experience in Infrastructure projects like Roads, Water supply & Buildings, Ports & Terminals, Cross Country Pipelines, etc. would be an added advantage.
Accountability:
- Keep abreast with new and upcoming developments in the construction industry and guide construction teams regarding how these technologies/techniques can be implemented to save time & cost at various sites
- Devise requisite strategy for mode of execution such as EPC, EPCM, Open Book, Unit Rate for various sites
- Provide strategic inputs to the Contracts team in finalizing & governing contracts.
- Monitor and control the budget and resourcing plan based on project scope, criticality and schedule of projects to ensure adherence to overall business objectives and goals
- Drive end to end execution / implementation of strategy through the team based at the plant/project site, so that the organization’s vision is translated into action
- Finalize the scope and sequence of work as per the project need and obtaining EC approval on the scope of work & budget.
- Review organogram prepared by site construction heads based on the work-breakdown structure from Engineering and forecast requirements for manpower at various levels (RAG)
- Review construction schedule in alignment with overall project schedule and provide strategic inputs to expedite execution.
- Review major risks involved in projects and suggest mitigation measures to ultimately increasing the chances of delivering the project on time, within budget
- Oversee proposals for cost optimization through the course of the project to proactively manage potential threats and reduce uncertainties
- Conduct review meetings, asses list of hold ups, initiate corrective action
- Guide execution teams in identifying and automating processes / activities that can be automated by adopting external tool or indigenously developed applications.
- Review and approve infrastructure requirements for various activities and obtain requisite management approvals
- Play key role in identifying and grooming competent young construction managers for future leadership roles.
Skills:
- Knowledge of Construction technology & Management, Contract Management, resource planning, Codes and Standards
- Knowledge of Planning techniques and infrastructure planning
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and HSE procedures
- Knowledge of Material control & reconciliation, work order, purchase order, billing, statutory requirements
- Knowledge of Quality audits and stage-wise inspection procedures
- Experience in coordinating civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, packages, IT and instrumentation works
- Experience in handling large teams of internal as well as contracted workforce
